Welcome to Southern Masters Swimming!

Masters swimming is an organized program of swimming for adults.  Masters swimming exists to promote health and fitness in its members who participate in a variety of ways ranging from lap swimming, to tri-athletes to those that compete locally, nationally, and internationally in competitive swim meets.  Everyone has his or her own reason for joining Masters — health, fitness, camaraderie, fun, the thrill of competition, travel and coaching.   Anyone 18 years of age or older can join.   Masters swimming was founded in 1970 and currently has over 50,000 members with more than 500 local swim clubs located throughout the country.  USMS holds national championships each year for short course yards in the spring and long course meters in the summer.

The Southern LMSC covers the geographic area of Louisiana and Mississippi.  Hurricanes Katrina and Rita greatly affected much of Louisiana and Mississippi, but membership has begun to climb back up over the past couple of years. In 2008 we had 468 members and in 2009 we had 558 members.  UNO Arena in New Orleans just reopened and hosted the 2010 Short Course Meter Championships.

Dixie Zone 2012 SCY Championships

The Dixie Zone 2012 Short Course Yards Championships sponsored by Crawfish Aquatics will be held Friday March 16 to Sunday March 18, 2012 at the Ketcham Fitness Center Pool in the Jimmy Swaggart Complex on Bluebonnet Blvd in Baton Rouge. 

All mailed entries must be received by March 10, 2012 (additional $5.00 for late entries).  Online entry is available for this meet, and can be found at the link below.  Online entries will open on November 15th and close on March 15th.
